Adventure Hikes

Welcome to the Adventure Hikes!
Want to really enjoy the outdoors in all their pristine glory? Like to stand at the summit of a mountain, edge of a ridge, and gaze over the surrounding peaks and valleys? Or, cross streams and stand beneath refreshing waterfalls? The Adventure HIkes are for you. We visit nearby mountains, forests and parks and hike trails and paths that lead to all of the above. Some gentle, some strenuous and demanding, but all exhilarating!
Adventure hikes are day-long events to more distant venues than the Casual Hikes, of longer duration and greater difficulty. They typically cover between 6-12 miles over varied terrain, lasting between 3-6 hours at a moderate pace. They are scheduled on either Saturdays or Sundays and require some carpooling from a designated meeting place within the metropolitan area. They are generally free but may require carpooling or park entrance fees. A day pack to carry sufficient liquids and food is a necessity, as we'll be eating lunch on the trail and removed from any commercial sources. Appropriate footwear and clothing for the conditions and weather are also a requirement. In the threat of inclement weather please call the hike leader to confirm the hike's status.
We need volunteer organizers and leaders; whether experienced or novices. We can train the latter. Contact the Adventure Hikes coordinator. If you just want to be a participant, look over our hiking schedule, contact the designated leader and/or join us at the appointed meeting place.
