Arlington House/Arlington Cemetery - Arlington, VA
Date and Time: Saturday, June 29th, 10 AM - 12 PM Noon-ish
Leader: Linda Voss
Distance and Difficulty: 4 miles, Easy
Directions: Meet at the base of the Iwo Jima monument. Parking is available for free near the monument. (If you want to take the Blue or Yellow lines to Arlington Cemetery, make arrangements with the hike leader, and we'll pick you up at the Arlington Cemetery Visitor Center’s Information desk. You can also pay for parking at Arlington Cemetery Visitor Center.)
Information: This is a kid- and dog-friendly hike. Arlington Cemetery has plenty of hills for getting in a workout in January. We'll enter at the Ord and Weitzel Gate, visit the JFK gravesite, Arlington House, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Along the way, we'll visit the graves of astronauts, Supreme Court Justices, and Presidents. The Cemetery has lots of history and panoramic views of downtown D.C. from the former home of General Lee, which was confiscated by the Union!
