CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER Fairfax Cross County Trail (Georgetown Pike to Hunter Mill Road) - Great Fall, VA

Date and Time: Sunday, March 25th, 9 AM - Noon or 1 pm (depending on pace & carpooling)

Distance & Difficulty: 9 miles, Moderate/Advanced

Directions: Each hike is one way, so we will leave cars at the end point for the return trip.  End point (10401 Hunter Station Rd Wolf Trap, VA 22181) is small parking lot at Hunter Mill Rd and Hunter Station Rd along the W&OD paved trail from where we will carpool back to the starting point.  Starting point (8801 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, VA 22102) at Georgetown Pike at Difficult Run about 5 miles west from the beltway, parking lot on left.  Please arrive early to allow extra time for the carpooling.

Over the last 15 years the Fairfax Trails and Streams has pieced together a 43 mile trail which runs from Great Falls Park to Occoquan. Existing trails have been improved and connections built to form this trail. We will hike it in 5 sections, on 5 separate Sundays, one per month starting in March at Great Falls, VA. This is a mostly level trail, winding through forests and communities and usually along streams. It can be muddy, so hiking boots are strongly recommended. All sections will start at 9am and take between 3 and 4 hours. A lunch will be organized after each hike. A map of the trail can be found at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks
