Northwest Branch Trail – Silver Spring, MD

Date and Time: Saturday, November 17th 10 AM - 12 PM Noon-ish

Leader: Amelia Lancellotti

Distance and Difficulty: 5 miles, Moderate (creek crossings)

Directions: 10700 Colesville Road (US 29) in Silver Spring, MD. There is a small parking lot on behind a brick building near Burnt Mills Dam where we will meet.

Information:
This trail is part of the Rachel Carson Greenway Trail Corridor. We will traverse the northern trail, which is natural surface. While the complete natural surface trail is 10.2 miles in length, we will plan to take a 5.5 mile loop. The Northwest Branch is part of the Anacostia tributary system and hugs the river edge, providing a wilderness-like experience. There are some mild hills, and there may be a stream crossing.
