A Word from the Movies Program Coordinators
Attention
Movie Critics!
For those aspiring Siskel & Eberts, now is your chance to join your fellow Club members and give critical acclaim or two thumbs down to a movie. We will meet the first Sunday afternoon of every month at a different location to watch a movie and then afterwards for drinks, snacks or dinner at a nearby restaurant. We alternate between Maryland (Helen) and Virginia/DC (Abe). The theater and restaurant will be announced each month.
As for the movie, we will wait until the last possible moment and make our selection based on the current hit movies playing. The cost is the price of your ticket and the snacks you buy. For the exact meeting time and other pertinent information, such as the movie and location, contact: Abe Schultz at (703) 820-7687 or Helen Coker at (301) 610-0379, and listen for the recorded message. Please don’t call before Friday, movie weekend.
Classic Movies!
If you're a movie buff and relish visiting the movies of your youth in the company of similar enthusiasts, join us for our monthly dinner/classic movie experience at a local restaurant. Watch these pages for the latest event. Any questions or if you have a movie suggestion, please contact either Doug Taylor, or Darlene Olsen.

May Classic Movie
Date: Saturday, May 17, 11:00 AM
Cost: $10 minimum food/drink purchase
Leader: Darlene Olsen
Location: Tallula Restaurant's Eat Bar, 2761 Washington Blvd, Arlington (703) 778-5051,
Movie: The Adventures of Robing Hood (1938) with Errol Flynn
Errol Flynn is eternally charming as Robin, defender of the poor, in this rousing family adventure that co-stars Olivia de Havilland and Claude Rains. The film climaxes in their rousing battle-to-the-finish sword fight, a magnificently choreographed scene highlighted by director Michael Curtiz with the inventive use of shadows cast upon the castle walls. Please come at 11am when they open to socialize and eat, and then move to a seat with a good view of the screen. We plan to start the film at noon.
