RECREATIONAL PROGRAM

A Word from the River/Raft Chair
Mark Poirier

During the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons, we present several opportunities to enjoy the nearby rivers, lakes and estuaries. As cooler fall and winter weather approaches, these activities go into hibernation until spring.

If you have any suggestions or would like to lead any river/rafting activities, contact Mark Poirier, Recreation Chairman, 207-229-2057

An eco friendly kayaking trip on the Piscataway Creek. As we paddle through a series of calm freshwater tributaries, the water twists and turns through the tidal marsh canals providing protection for innumerable small fish. You will likely see great blue heron, osprey, bald eagles, beaver and river otter as well as many smaller birds and turtles.

You will likely get wet during this trip, so appropriate clothing would be a good idea. Items to bring with you should be a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and bug repellent.

Participants will need to complete and sign a release of liability and assumption of risk agreement prepared by the outfitter. This trip is rain or shine unless cancelled by the outfitter. Class signup is only through SCWDC.
