Casual Hikes
The Casual Hikes are back! They are from 4 to 6 miles and are easy to moderate in difficulty. You should be able to walk at a brisk pace for 2 to 3 hours with some hills, depending on the hike. Most hikes are within a half hour drive from the metropolitan DC area. The hikes will take place at 10 am on Saturdays unless the schedule denotes a special time. Members and guests may participate. All hikes are free; however, there may be fees for carpooling and/or entry to some parks. We are looking for new hike leaders and hikes! Directions:Meet at the West side of the Washington National Cathedral (Wisconsin Ave. side).
Information:Explore this up scale neighborhood. Tour includes a few Victorian homes.

Directions:This Park is accessible ONLY from the northbound lanes of the GW Parkway just north of the Roosevelt Bridge. Parking for Theodore Roosevelt Island is on the left.
Information:On this wooded island sanctuary located in the Potomac River with miles of trails. Come join us to explore!

C&O Canal from Old Angler's Inn, MD

Distance and Difficulty: 4 miles, Easy
Directions:From VA, take I-495 over the American Legion bridge to exit 41 for Carderock/Glen Echo. Turn toward Carderock. At T intersection turn left onto MacArthur Blvd. Go approximately 1 mile. Old Angler's Inn will be on the right. Park in the lots across the street from Old Angler's.
Information:This hike is an old favorite! Walk progresses along the canal for a couple miles with walk out to overlook for magnificent views of Great Falls! Return is through upper forested area.
