Adventure hikes are scheduled for either Saturday or Sunday. If you want to lead a hike, just let us know your preference. Volunteers to lead hikes are always welcomed whether you are a veteran or a first timer.
If you need help in selecting a hike, we will work together to select one. We will also help you scout the hike and provide instruction on the roles and responsibilities of a hike leader. It is easy, but care must be taken to insure everyone enjoys the hike. Leading is fun and it is a wonderful way to meet great people.
The objective, hike rating system allows hikers to better gauge if a hike is right for them. We will print the level of difficulty for each hike based on the following measurable criteria. If you have any questions about this rating system, give me a call.
Easy:
Under eight miles and under 800 feet elevation gain.
Moderate:
More than eight miles OR more than 800 feet elevation gain, but no more than twelve miles and no more than 1,600 feet elevation gain.
Difficult:
More than twelve miles OR more than 1,600 feet elevation gain, but no more than fifteen miles or 3,000 feet elevation gain.
Advanced:
More than fifteen miles OR more than 3,000 feet elevation gain.
Finally, remember the basics for hiking is to drink plenty of water, eat energy producing foods, layer, wear good boots, and know your hiking abilities. In other words, stay hydrated, fuel your body, layer and be safe.
