We will meet from 5:30 to 8:30 at the Ashby apartment house (1350 Beverly Road), just north of Tysons Corner, near the intersection of Beverly Road and Rte 123.

Our host is Leo Boelhouwer, Mr. President, for a pleasant summer evening. We’ll have pizza, subs and some beer, wine and soda as well - free to members and their guests. If you prefer to barbecue your own dinner, we'll have the grills ready. Cool off in the pool, and enjoy a warm summer evening. If you plan on coming, please call Leo at, 703-973-3873 or email at Leo Boelhouwer, to help us with a head count. And, call us if you plan on swimming so we can have a pool pass ready for you when you arrive.

Location and Directions: Take exit 46B off 495 to 123 North (AKA Dolly Madison). Continue on 123 to Beverly Rd, past intersections with Great Falls Rd and Old Dominion. Turn right on Beverly Rd (there is a large Cardinal Bank sign at the intersection). The Ashby (1350 Beverly Rd) is the second apartment house on the right. There is plenty of parking towards the rear of the building. In the unlikely event that it fills up, street parking is nearly as convenient. Call 703-973-3873 to gain entrance.

Piscataway Creek Kayaking - Marsh Loop Eco-Tour

Date and Time: Saturday, July 25,
1 – 4 PM

Price: $54 members, $61 guests
Cancellation fee is $10. No cancellations after July 4.

Location: Piscataway Creek, MD

Directions: Atlantic Kayak at Piscataway Creek for printed directions OR atlantickayak.com

Senior Leader: Mark Poirier, 207-229-2057, markppoirier@gmail.com; TNT co-leader, Allison Greene allisonj4@gmail.com

An eco friendly kayaking trip on the Piscataway Creek. As we paddle through a series of calm freshwater tributaries, the water twists and turns through the tidal marsh canals providing protection for innumerable small fish. You will likely see great blue heron, osprey, bald eagles, beaver and river otter as well as many smaller birds and turtles.

You will likely get wet during this trip, so appropriate clothing would be a good idea. Items to bring with you should be a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and bug repellent.

Participants will need to complete and sign a release of liability and assumption of risk agreement prepared by the outfitter. This trip is rain or shine unless cancelled by the outfitter. Class signup is only through SCWDC.

Make check payable to SCWDC, and mail to senior leader:
Mark Poirier
4208 Javins Drive
Alexandria, VA 22310
